SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Gray News) – It’s the perfect pair. A rescued dog fitted with prosthetics was adopted by a family familiar with the difficulties of having a leg amputated.
San Diego Humane Society officers rescued two dogs in March from a Mira Mesa home.
According to the humane society, their owners had bandaged their back legs so tightly that blood was no longer circulating, causing severe injuries.
San Diego Humane Society veterinarians finally made the decision to amputate their legs.
Chloe, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu, had both of her back legs partially amputated. She was fitted with orthopedic booties and underwent physical therapy to learn to walk again.
